My 1997/98 series 2 2.8 deisel automatic often stalls in reverse gear or will idle very fast, approximately 1500 RPM and travel very quickly if I release the brake, if I hold it still on the brake it just stalls, other times its OK. A few times when stopped at traffic lights and waiting, the idle speed drops as if it was going to stall but does'nt,and on one occasion recently it would not travel slowly at idle speed through a car parking station and I had to give it some power to stop the violent shaking and snatching as it began to stall, any ideas ?

Having problems finding a mechanic for this type of car,l live in sunbury victoria and over the last 2an a half years have spent a fortune on repairs alone . l like the van but it seems to cost me a fortune everytime something goes wrong . after all the money lve spent l would have thought the car would be fine by now but more problems seem to pop up .head gasket replaced/alternater replaced/rear axel seals replaced,new timing belt,crankshaft damper pully ,water pump the list goes on and as much as l like this van (we have 5 kids so the van is a good size)l just had a tune up and have been told another oil leak (oil leak from rocket cover gasket and turbo)another $2000 plus again. so if anyone can help in anyway l would be much gratful
