My car starts fine but randomly stops every now and again and when this happens an orange light appears looks like an engine and the car stops moving. The car is still on but it doesnt move and makes a funny sound, I turn the car right off and then when i turn it back on it runs fine until one day it stops. What is this problem??

I recently replaced a faulty oil pump in my car. The car now jerks when I engage Drive or Reverse. When driving, the car won't shift from gear one automatically but can shift when I change the gears manually (its a trip-tonic).
