My 2004 Lancer Cedia just got "powerless" on drive and will not pick up speed. Reverse working perfectly. Changed ATF (advice frm my mech) but no change. Been advised to change the gearbox..!!

When I'm driving and start to slow down the car will just cut owt with no warning and when i pull over to the side and put it in park it start's to make a buzzing sound, so I turn the key off for about a minute and then wait for the engine light to go off, I have noticed that it is happening more often I've taken it to the garage's and the cant pick up wot is wrong.
