The side door handle is broken and I have a replacement. How do I remove the original one? I can't work it out at all. What's the trick??? Please help

The car overheats when i drive it for more than 5 minutes. I've topped up the radiator with water and the engine with oil. Everything else appears to be ok. The strange thing is that the dip stick is showing no oil at all. I can't see any leaks and no oil smoke comes from the engine. V strange.
