Not sure if this fuel consumption is correct for the Toyota Corolla 1.4 Terra-MT (11.2001 - 00.2007)

It seems to use a massive amount of fuel (14.1 L/100km) in city driving and practically nothing (1.2L) on the open road.How can it use three times as much as other models in one situation and a third as much in another?
Typo?

The vehicle showed the oil light while running and heard engine knock, thus the engine knocked. It knocked while the oil level was still at maximum level as checked through dip stick. I am told it had oil starvation , it's a VVTI engine and 'm fearful to have VVTI in future.

Oil lamp is flashing out in the dashboard while driving. I stop for several hours and start it again At a distance of a kilometer it comes out again. I was towed home. May u please assist in this problem
