Last December 2010 I bought an ex-japan Toyota Gaia sxm 15 from Durban as a present for my wife, and imported it into Zimbabwe. It made a squalling sound which appeared to come from the alternator or pump. The sound would turn on and off irregularly and we could even forget about it. Last week it just got louder and louder as if bearings were grinding, like moving parts in friction (something like that); though the dash board never indicated anything amiss. we switched off the engine, but now without warning the car won't start when key turned on although engine cranks. Others suggested battery but lights and aircons work well. A mechanic suggests it could also be water pump or a fuse,i don't know. What could be the problem and how can i get it fixed? please help me!
