Were there any significant safety features in the 2000-2003 Toyota Harrier 3.0 iR version?

My harrier sometimes fails to switch to gear number four(4). This is more common especially when the temperature of the engine is almost the C(cold) point indicator. it can accelerate all the way up to 100kph without switching. sometimes when its running, the car also stalls when you press the brakes a little. It shifts from gear four(4) to three(3). This happens when am are going down a slope at a high speed of say 120kph. Whatcould be the issue?

My car problem is when i on the rear heater switch or front light , the "R" at dashboard are turn on even the gear are put at "P". If at "D" are the same problem also. May i know what is the problem ? can someone tell me if there have phase this problem before ? how to solve ? toyota harrier 2.4 year 2005. Thanks
